If Austin Rivers keeps this up, I’m going to have to go back to my old vids of him and edit out all the times I called him a bust, Chad Ford-style. That’s the bad (and good) thing about the Internet, nothing is permanent, everything can change, and information is in a constant state of flux.
If I wanted to “fix” all those misguided descriptions to say that I thought he would be an average role-player on a contending team in place of calling him a bust, I could. I should, even. Maintaining the perception that I am infallible is far more important than actually being infallible. Maybe I already did the reverse of what I’m talking about. Maybe the descriptions were originally full of positive words about Rivers and I changed them to mock his poor play. Who knows? You certainly don’t.
1984-esque ramblings on the nature of truth aside, I’ve been impressed by Rivers recently. Some really nice drives to the basket in his 28-point game, and some nice ones again tonight. Who cares what he does in those 3-of-11-ish games that he is still prone to having? Highlights are highlights, and lately, his highlights have been really highlighty.
