Ricky Rubio 10 Points/17 Assists Full Highlights (1/11/2017)

One field goal. Just one. One Ricky Rubio field goal in a whole three minute video devoted to his basketball prowess. It’s to the point where I probably shouldn’t even have bothered with showing his points. I don’t show the assist if some guy puts up thirty points and only has the one, so why I should I show the field goal if the real point of the video is the 17 assists?

Side note: DTB historians will remember by Jose Calderon 16 Assists video, where he scored two buckets and I didn’t show them because they would distract from the assistage on display. That remains, and will remain forever, the only DTB video containing no buckets scored by the player being highlighted.

So Rubio didn’t score very much this game, in line with his usual non-scoring ways. So what? His purpose on the Timberwolves is not to score. His purpose is to set up his teammates and play defense. Any stuff he does on top of that is a bonus that should not be expected all the time. The Timberwolves have other players who score the rock: Karl-Anthony Towns, Shabazz Muhammad, and Brandon Rush, according to this video.
