I’m a bit ashamed to admit it, but my consistently high levels of hype for Gary Harris were slightly diminished when he banked in a three-pointer off a Jokic screen. I was #hypedforgaryharris before, and I’m still #hypedforgaryharris now, but perhaps the more accurate hashtag would be #mostlyhypedforgaryharris. Because, as you all know, banking in a three is just about the most shameful thing you can do on a basketball court, even if you tell everybody after the fact that you “called it”. The only thing more shameful that I can think of is banking in a three from the corner. It’s fair that my hype levels for Gary would take a hit after that. It’s like watching your favorite actor or musical artist being mean to a fan. You still really like them, but there’s always a memory of that incident in the back of your head.
The Nuggets still have hope to make the playoffs, where hype for Gary Harris could flourish and grow. But if they miss the playoffs, we’re looking at several long months where it will be hard to be #hypedforgaryharris since he will be mostly out of the public eye, and when he does reappear for brief moments, he won’t be making nifty backdoor cuts for dunks or calmly knocking down pull-up midrange jumpers. Luckily I have a large amount of Gary Harris highlights to watch over the summer to keep my hype levels steady. Thanks DTB. You’re the man.
