Malcolm Brogdon won ROY of the Year solely by having games exactly like this the entire season. Well, not exactly: he only scored more than the 19 he had tonight two times in his rookie campaign. But my point still stands. He just went out there, played solid basketball, left no one particularly impressed, and came away with one of the more prestigious NBA awards.
There is no ROY of the Year award waiting for him at the end of this season. You’re only allowed one. So he will have to find some other motivation to continue contributing his solid brand of ball. I don’t know what that motivation is going to be; playoffs perhaps? The desire to see Dellavedova banished to the bench forever?
