Dario Saric has really improved over his rookie campaign. He started off slow, which fooled a lot of people into not paying attention to him at all for the rest of the season, but he’s been legitimately legit since December. He’s been so legit that I feel it is correct to say that he is part of the 76ers’ “big three”, the other two being Simmons and Embiid.
Problem for him is, those other two dudes are way more exciting, way more popular, just as foreign, and higher scoring. The public at large does not especially want to care about the 76ers, and when they do dredge up some care from the depths of their care reserves, it’s too care about either the All-Star or the All-Star snub. Not some guy who kinda got snubbed for ROY and got way better but isn’t a rookie anymore so it doesn’t matter in terms of being able to win awards.
Maybe there should be a SOY, or Sopohomore of the Year award. Why not? If the NBA is gonna have a frickin’ awards show (worst idea ever BTW) at the end of the year, they might as well add some awards so it doesn’t seem so pathetic.
