At what point do we start using the b-word in reference to D’Angelo Russell? He was the second overall pick, and while he is averaging 15 ppg, which is pretty nice, his overall impact is suspect. You want someone a little better when you’re picking that high, I keep seeing revisionist history saying that Kwame Brown wasn’t a b-word. Well, duh, everyone looks good all of a sudden now that Anthony Bennett has come in and skewed everything, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a total disappointment.
There’s no rule that says I can’t call Russell the b-word right now, if I wanted to. Do I dare?
Not yet. He’s still super young, he looks good some of the time, even great occasionally, which is more than can be said for a lot of players. I’ll give him a few more years, maybe one or two of them on a team that isn’t garbagey poo, and report back with my findings.
