Jordan Clarkson has been as advertised since coming to the Cavaliers. If I had to guess, I’d say that Cavs fans were expecting a lot more than that because of all the extremely highlight-y highlights they watched (Clarkson has some of the highlightiest highlights in the league in my opinion), but they didn’t get to see the game-to-game averageness of Clarkson. Every fanbase thinks the players they get in trades are studs, but sometimes you just get pretty okay players. Like Clarkson. He’s pretty okay, and that’s okay.
He did most of his damage tonight way after the game was already decided. There was a 20-point margin starting at about the second quarter, but he waited until the last bit of the third before deciding to start hitting some shots, and he had 17 in the final period. The biggest thing he did was get LeBron yet another triple double. It’s really cool that he scored 23 tonight, but basically everyone on the Cavaliers is there to act as background noise for whatever LeBron is doing. At least in the eyes of the average fan. Not me, obviously, and probably not you either since you’re watching this vid.
