There was a part of me that was like “it would be cool for the Spurs to miss the playoffs so that all the Popovich nuthuggers would stop hugging his nuts” but then there was an opposing part of me that was like “if Manu Ginobili missed the playoffs he would probably retire and it wouldn’t be a proper ending to his illustrious career”. Then there were some other thoughts mixed in there as well:
-“If the Spurs made the playoffs without Kawhi that would prove something about the system they run”
-“I want the Spurs to miss the playoffs so the fervor about how great an organization they are dies down a little bit (hearing all about how well-run they are makes me curse the fact that I was born in Wisconsin and not south Texas)”
-“Aldridge probably doesn’t care whether he makes the playoffs or not as long as he gets to shoot twenty shots a game”
-“If Ginobili missed the playoffs he would probably come back for another year to end things right, so maybe that would be fine”
So I didn’t really know what I thought. But what I thought doesn’t matter anymore because the Spurs are playoff-bound and who knows what kind of magic they’ll conjure up in the first round. Maybe Kawhi will come back. Maybe Timmy will come back. Who knows.
