Summer League seems like so long ago now. There was a lot of hype going on then, maybe not as much as the year previous (I’m still recovering from the Lonzo hype), but everyone was getting, as usual, super excited about marginal talents. Talents like, you guessed it, Frank Jackson!
I’m pretty sure that he had some really nice scoring games there in Vegas. Of course, I could be thinking of someone else (was Pierre Jackson involved?), but he definitely has the pedigree to be an elite scorer in games against sub-NBA talent. The jury is still out as to whether he can do the same against non-sub-NBA talent.
This is his best NBA performance so far. By far. This is the game that makes me think that maybe he can be a legit scorer in this league. It comes too late to stop Anthony Davis from getting shipped to the Lakers at the trade deadline, but it’s just in time to replace Davis’ production with a combo of Frank, Tim Frazier, and Alexis Ajinca. And if you try to tell me that Ajinca isn’t on the Pelicans anymore, I’m not going to listen. Because my heart tells me he is.
