Marco Belinelli 19 Points Full Highlights (1/10/2019)

With 7.8 threes attempted per 36 minutes this year, Marco Belinelli is sitting right around 50th in the NBA in that stat. That’s inclusing a bunch of players who barely play (and Carmelo Anthony, LMAO), otherwise he’d be around 25th or so. But if this was 10 years ago, he’d be in the top ten of three-chuckers. That list is really funny because most of these dudes barely played:

Jawad Williams (who)
Anthony Roberson (who)
Donyell Marshall (screw off)
Damon Jones
Steve Novak
Thomas Gardner (who)
Eddie House
Desmon Farmer (who)
Daequan Cook
A theoretical Marco Belinelli who was actually only shooting 5 per 36 at this point

Followed closely by Sun Yue, Blake Ahearn, and J.R. Smith. Almost all the “good” players didn’t take all that many threes. Nowadays, if you’re not launching from deep at least 6 times per game, you’re basically worthless unless your name is Giannis. Belinelli knew which direction the league was heading already when he entered the league, and now he’s well-prepared. He knows how to shoot threes while fading to the left or right or even sometimes without fading at all. He can’t do much else, but I can envision many more years of him just standing beyond the arc and bombing away.
