I am still waiting on a double-digit block game from Mitchell Robinson. Relatedly, I am also still waiting on a double-digit scoring game from Duncan Robinson. But that’s an issue for another day.
Robinson already tries to block literally everything that he thinks he can reach, so it’s not like he isn’t trying hard enough here. The problem is, in my opinion, teams have created a scouting report for him. Earlier in the season, the idea of his shot-blocking was more a vague threat than a tangible menace. Now that teams have seen what he can do, they don’t just send people into the GRINDER. That’s what I’m calling him now. Because of how good he blocks shots and how opposing players emerge from the situation a ground-up mass of pink hamburger meat. THE GRINDER. As some dude from some 90’s movie that I may or may not have watched dozens of times: “you mess with Kurt, and you go into the grinder”.
Another problem is that he gets called for foul all the time. That’s what happens when you try to block tons of shots: sometimes the refs get jealous that they’re not allowed to block shots so they start calling fouls.
