Emmanuel Mudiay 20 Points Full Highlights (1/8/2020)

Emmanuel Mudiay is still alive, people. He definitely seemed like a prime candidate to head back over to China after his stint with Knicks (he was even more likely than most, since he was already there in lieu of playing NCAA ball), and that was my prediction for him, but he’s still here in the NBA. In the NBA and playing decently well! I fear that now that I’ve spoken those words I will curse him and he’ll turn back into bootyflakes.

Obviously, his numbers aren’t close to what they were in New York, but there is a reason for that. Knicks = bad team, Jazz = good team. He’s not going to get to chuck like he did last season on a team like the Jazz, even if they’re missing Mike Conley (who actually might as well stay injured forever at this point, he almost torpedoed their whole season). The only person allowed to chuck on the Jazz is Donovan Mitchell; everyone else has to be judicious with their shot selection to the point of overpassing.

It’s hard to tell if Mudiay is actually playing better (as in more conducive to winning) or if the Jazz are just so good that he can do his usual thing and they won’t be hurt too bad by it. One thing’s for sure: he’s shooting way more efficiently than he has in the past, and upping your percentages in that way is a surefire way to go from bad player to not-so-bad player.
