I hope NBA teams realize that Chris Copeland is thirty years old and, as an old man, does not have much time left in the league. We’re talking five years at most. In sympathy with Copeland’s plight, you need to give him minutes while he can still take advantage of them. The Pacers had better trade him somewhere where he gets to play, somewhere where he doesn’t need to play defense and only has to worry if he’s shot enough threes. Somewhere like Portland. Or Minnesota. We need to see if he can keep up his sick shooting numbers while having a consistent role.
Every day that passes, the various maladies afflicting Copeland’s body only get more pronounced. His muscles are weakening. His bones are osteoporosing. His hair gets more brittle by the day, to the point where he needs a headband just to keep it from falling out. You can already see where the wrinkles will be on his face. Somebody has to play this guy twenty-five minutes a game so we can see what happens. Before it’s too late.
