The “try to turn Jared Sullinger into a strech-four” experiment is not yet paying dividends for the Celtics. He continues to take lots of threes, and continues to not make a good percentage of them. Can’t blame his coaches for trying. Big men who can shoot threes are valuable; if Sullynyk could get consistent behind the arc then the Celtics would start making some noise in the playoffs again. Maybe.
I’ve said it before, but I think it bears repeating: I see a lot of Charles Barkley in Jared Sullinger. They both have the same propensity for jump shot clanking, and they have the same well-endowed ass for shoving into people to get good post shots. Before you crucify me for comparing an average starter to a HOFer, remember that comparisons are merely a stylistic thing. Same as Kawhi Leonard kind of looking like MJ.
