With the trade of two of their rotation players, the acquisition of a bunch of soon-to-be waived scrubs, the actual waiving of Fatty Dally, and the imminent shutting-down of Carmelo, the Knicks are setting themselves up to tank.
Which is weird, because I really thought they were doing it before all this happened. No harm in tanking harder, I guess. And with tanking comes DTB’s favorite time. Scrub time! More minutes for luminaries like Travis Wear and Quincy “Assy” Acy. Surely they will pull some overmatched neophytes out of the D-League to get embarrassed on a regular basis. Will that include Thanasis Antetokounmpo? I hope so.
I don’t know if we can expect this kind of performance every game from Acy, but it’s more likely now that there are fewer NBA-quality talents on the roster. He’s going to start shooting a few more threes and long jumpers for sure. Probably acquire a bunch more technicals, and try to claim the MVB award from James Harden. I’m pumped, and if I’m a Knicks fan, I’m double-pumped. Can you say Okafor?
