It seems like Andrew Wiggins is the forgotten man in Minnesota right now. He’s scoring over 20 per contest, making significant strides as a basketball player and coming closer to attaining the projections that many had for him, and now, the only thing anyone can talk about is Karl-Anthony Towns. What gives?
NBA fans must have short attention spans or something. They always want the shiny new thing, even the slightly-older slightly-less-shiny thing is still performing its duty extremely well. They get all excited for a player’s potential, and when that potential is fulfilled, that’s it, time to find someone else.
In this case, maybe Towns IS better than Wiggins. He certainly looks way more impressive than Wiggins did in their respective first months. He’s already so good that I can feel the pendulum swinging back against him; in a few months, he could score 25 a game and no one would notice because Trey Lyles will finally have scored in double figures.
