I was pretty pumped when the Bucks signed Mirza Teletovic this offseason. I saw what he had done in Phoenix the year prior, and he seemed like the perfect stretchy-foury type to put next to Giannis. I even advocated trading for him during the season, that’s how much I wanted this dude in Milwaukee.
Now he’s here, and the Bucks are doing to him what they to most of the players that pass through their team: misusing him and causing him to fall short of expectations. Basically, the Bucks can’t generate an open three to save their lives unless its in transition. It’s just not the way the offense is set up. Sometimes Giannis’ gravity will open something up, but that something is usually Dellavedova taking a foot-on-the-line two. This means that Teletovic, when he gets in the game, just starts jacking any three no matter how contested. He’s a shooter, and he wants to shoot, can’t really blame him. But this leads to tons of off the dribble threes, most of which don’t go in. They LOOK good, which is nice, so it’s possible that he’s been unlucky to start the season.
This is Telly’s 3rd best scoring game of the season. Yeah. I know. I really expected more from him, but I forgot he was coming to the Bucks, who ruin everything they touch.
