Kent Bazemore finished out the month of January strong with an efficiently-produced 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting and five assists, a performance which placed him third on basketball-reference’s ranking of all of yesterday’s statlines (behind McCollum’s 50 and Kemba’s 38). Of course, nobody cares about Kent Bazemore, so his good game will be mostly ignored, but relatively speaking, this might be one of the best games of his life.
I just checked the monthly splits, and it looks like Bazemore resurrected himself in January after playling like booty for the first month and a half of the season. If he can continue to score fifteen points per game on 46% shooting, his contract stops being an albatross and starts being fair value or at least something close to fair value.
Actually, I just double-checked, and he’s making seventeen million dollars this year, so it’s hard to imagine him playing up to his contract unless he drops 25/5 every game. I hope his agent got a huge bonus after that one.
