I think it’s great that the Magic are giving 25 MPG to Jonathan Isaac. It will really help his development when all is said and done to have gotten plenty of minutes early in his career. He’s not being overused like some highly-touted rookies are; he’s playing the correct amount of minutes for his level of development (raw) and the state of the team (bad, but not terrible). Somehow, he’s managed to stay on Steve Clifford’s good side, which is something that very few young players ever manage to do.
All that fuzzy-wuzzy positive stuff aside, Isaac has gotta fix that jumper. He’s shooting way below thirty percent on three-pointers this season and it’s easy to see why: that wind-up and launch thing he’s got going on is like how I shot it when I was in third grade. It’s obvious he has the arm-power necessary to shoot it normally, so it’s just a matter of locking him in a gym with Mark Price, breaking him down physically and mentally until he no longer remembers what a jumpshot is, and then re-teaching him the correct mechanics. If electroshock therapy is necessary to speed along the “mental” part of the process, so be it. Ignore the fact that Mark Price tried, and failed, to fix Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s jumpshot. In Isaac’s defense, at least he doesn’t have his elbows stuck in all kinds of crazy directions like MKG did.
Also, is this dude only listed at 6’10” because of his abnormally long head? I’m not even talking about his hair here (which is also tall), but just his head. And his neck. He’s got like two extra inches there that he shouldn’t. His wingspan probably means more than his actual height, but I’m just saying. Look how tall his head is.
