If you’re watching thinking about this video at some weird future time where the details of this game are not necessarily known to you, consider the following: Dennis Schroder scored 24 points in the second quarter of this one. It was insane. I was watching it (because I wanted to see Abdel Nader), and it was insane. One of the sweetest scoring outbursts of the season, for sure.
Of course, since you’ve already seen the title of this video, you know the sad end to this tale. That end being that Schroder only scored 4 more points the whole rest of the game. Part of that was because it was a blowout by the time the game was about ready to tip, and the other part of it was that he was DEFERRING too much to BAD teammates. Paul George? PFFFFT. Get outta here. When you’ve got a sick scoring performance going like Schroder did, you have to grab the ball by the balls and shoot it HARD. You can’t just wait around and hope some more points magically come your way.
I was pretty sure he was wearing his enchanted lederhosen during this game after witnessing his heroic second-period acts, but now I’m not convinced. Maybe he was wearing it, and then he took it off for some reason that I don’t know about? Maybe he was never wearing it and would’ve scored 100 in the game if he was? I just don’t know. I analyzed the game-tape frame-by-frame to see if I could see any traditional German garb sticking out from his jersey, but the results were inconclusive.
I did get a really sweet shot of some kid eating nachos, though. So jealous.
