Vince Carter said he’s coming back, right? If he didn’t straight up say it like that (can we get an MJ-like press release that just says “I’m back”), he at least strongly implied it. That’s good. I don’t think there’s an NBA fan out there who’s like “yeah nah, it would probably be better if Carter retired”. If you are out there, thinking those disgusting thoughts, please refrain from commenting on this video. Or any other video. There’s a special place for you called “Instagram” where you can share your garbo opinions with other gutter scum.
The rest of us will be enjoying an even less defensively-able Carter next season. He’ll probably regress a little bit from his current career-high efficiency, but that’s okay. Everyone peaks some time, for some players, it’s in their NBA debut (MCW). For others, it’s when they’re 42 years old.
I know he said he wants to return to Atlanta, but the Hawks probably aren’t going to be in a position to get him a ring, barring some sort of Curry-esque leap by Trae Young (could happen, I guess). It’s admirable that he doesn’t want to chase championships like so many other old-timers, so here’s my idea. He plays out next season with the Hawks, taking it easy, maybe not dunking it so much (every landing makes me fear for his cartilage), and then he signs with the two-time defending champ Milwaukee Bucks to help them three-peat. Perfect!
