It’s already become somewhat tiresome to hear Rockets fans go on and on about how much of an elite role-player Danuel House is. Even their commentators are getting in on the slobjob! Yes, the Rockets do seem to be playing better since his re-acquisition, and yes, he is shooting some truly insane percentages from three in the past week, but come on. It’s just Danuel House. From the way that Rockets fans fawn over him, you would think that he’s the reincarnation of Kobe in Karl Malone’s body, here to drag James Harden and co. to a championship.
I get to say these things because I was a proponent of House before he got a bigger spotlight in Houston. I made multiple highlight videos for him while he was on the Suns, and, honestly, he looked just about as good then as he does now. The only difference is that, in Phoenix, his talents were smothered by the overall badness of the team. In Houston, his strengths are amplified playing next to HoFers Harden, Paul, and Nene. If anybody should be happy for House, it should be me, because I saw firsthand what he was capable of before everybody got a big bone-on for him.
Honestly, sometimes it’s hard being better than everyone else. But it’s a burden that I must shoulder alone.
