Alec Burks represents a rarity on the Warriors’ roster: a veteran who can score. It’s actually a double rarity: both in the “veteran” department and the “can score” department.
The only people with as much or more NBA experience than Burks are Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Normally teams have at least one super old (or moderately old) dude who can tell/show the young ‘uns how to be professional and carry yourself well and stuff like that. Not the Warriors. I don’t really know why, but I guess Curry is SO professional that he can be the veteran despite only playing in the league for 10 years.
And the only non-injured people currently playing who can score like Burks can are… Eric Paschall? Willie Cauley-Stein when he’s being spoonfed easy looks by Bogdan Bogdanovic in Sacramento? Yeah, Burks is definitely filling a need right now, because every team needs the ball to go in the hole if they want to score any points at all.
I was hoping that this would be a career-high for him, because it would be the most understated career-high ever, but I totally forgot about his pair of 30-burgers during the 2013-14 season. That was a pretty long time ago now, so I hope you can forgive. I for sure made vids for both of those games; once I get off my lazy butt I’ll reupload them to the “DTB Archivium” channel that I started but haven’t yet uploaded anything to. Those games are historic, and it’s not fair for me to be the only who can enjoy the highlights of them.
