Jeff Green proved last year that he could still be a decent-ish scorer as long as literally no one (as in fans) paid attention to what he was doing. He averaged 12 points per game with the ‘Zards last year, a fact I know intimately because it seemed like I was making a vid for him every god-damn game. And the view counts for those vids tell the whole story; no one cared how many points he was scoring, because he was on the ‘Zards and his name was Jeff Green.
This year, things aren’t going so well. I think the Jazz might’ve accidentally placed some expectations on him and that messed his rhythm up. Not like he couldn’t meet those expectations (they were probably super low, like “be a decent bench scorer”), but just the fact that they existed at all was too much.
Per-minute, he’s not scoring too much worse, but he’s taking more shots to get there. I think he’s still filling a nice role for the Jazz (though he might be a reason why they’re slightly disappointing this year), and it could always be worse. Have you seen what happened to Trevor Ariza after he left Washington? Now THERE was a guy who I was tired of making vids for, and the fact that he has cratered into the ground lightens my workload a lot.
