Terry Rozier 29 Points Full Highlights (12/21/2019)

Terry “Tank Commander” Rozier was signed to command the tank for the Hornets. That’s why his nickname is “Tank Commander”. If his designated duty were not to command the Hornets’ tank all the way to the top of the lottery odds, then his nickname would be something else. Maybe a nickname that involves rhyming “Terry” with something. The tank commanding isn’t going so well right now, as the Hornets are on the cusp of being a playoff team, but Rozier will retain the nickname until the Hornets put together something resembling a legit roster.

Rozier is getting paid big bucks not just this year, but the two years after this one. Is the plan for the Hornets to continue tanking all that time, amassing large amounts of draftees and picks in order to pull off their own version of “The Process” (and destroy the remnants of their fanbse while doing so)? Or is Rozier’s nickname going to have to change to Terry “Eighth Seed Commander” Rozier when the Hornets foolishly stock up on veterans to keep the fans happy?

Having highly-paid players like Rozier taking up your cap space is not a recipe for continued playoff success, although a low playoff seed is not out of the question. Either the Hornets didn’t learn their lesson from Nic Batum’s cap-strangling contract, or they just didn’t care when they slid that offer sheet in front of Rozier because they figured they weren’t going to need that space for anything any time soon. Basically, the Hornets’ plan is not clear to me at this point, and it’s all Devonte’ Graham’s fault for being so good that he’s basically won the Hornets at least five games by himself and completely ruined whatever their plan was in the first place.
