There are many adjectives which apply to Kevin Huerter: red-haired, tall, alive, ambulant, the list could go on and on, not literally forever but pretty close. But there was one adjective that was not on that list, that can now be placed there:
Clutch.
It’s possible that that adjective was already applicable to him, actually. Perhaps there’s some clutch shots he’s already made with the Hawks that I simply don’t remember. And there were probably some times where he was clutch in college, because if he’s good enough to be in the NBA, he was likely good enough in college to be the one taking all the late-game shots. And that’s not even talking about high-school, assuming that he wasn’t so dominant that his team won by 50 every game just because he was on the court.
But after tonight, we can definitively say, without any shadow of a doubt, any penumbra of unsureness, that he is clutch. There is no denying it, not after the big-cojones three-pointer he hit with 7 seconds left to sweep the season series with the Spurs.
