There aren’t enough pure scorers in the NBA right now. It seems like everywhere you look, there are dudes who score well, but then you look closer and you see that they do other stuff besides score. Some of them play defense despite it taking energy away from them that could be used for scoring. Some of them pass sometimes instead of shooting as soon as the ball touches their hands. Some of them only shoot certain types of shots despite you getting points no matter where on the court you shoot the ball from or how you shoot it.
I don’t want players who do any of those things. I want scoring, pure, unadulterated.
I want Terrence Ross.
His single-mindedness in the realm of bucket-getting is admirable. He knows that when his teammates pass him the ball, they’re not passing it to him so that he can then pass it to somewhere else. When he has the ball, he’s supposed to put it in the hole. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t, but you know he’s looking at the rim at all times.
It might sound like I’m being sarcastic right now, but I assure you that I am not.
