When it comes to young tall-haired guards on the Spurs, Lonnie Walker has definitely captured the hearts of the fans. But Dejounte Murray is still there, he’s still young, he still has potential, and he still is capable of having good games like this even while the Spurs seem to be collapsing into the mediocrity that they managed to avoid for so long.
I don’t want to upset anybody out there, but I must report the vibes that my vibe receptors are picking up from Murray. Keep in mind that my vibe receptors are 99% accurate 99% of the time. The other one percent of the time, I receive erroneous vibes because I’m standing too close to my overclocked microwave. I can assure you that, currently, I am in an entirely different room from my illegally-modified microwave which emits dangerous levels of radiation. My vibe receptors are only picking up real, legitimate, untampered-with vibes right now. And the vibes that I’m getting from Murray are Michael Carter-Williams vibes.
Both of them are tall point guards who don’t have much of an outside shot. There was hope that MCW would develop into a good shooter, but he never did. That hope is similarly slipping away for Murray, although his unexplained year-long break from basketball means that his current shooting issues might just be rust. Murray also has the edge in terms of defense, because he was on the All-Defensive second team, while MCW only ever projected to be a good defender. Again, these vibes I’m receiving don’t mean that Murray’s ceiling is MCW. Not at all. I’m just reporting the vibes that are being detected by my vibe receptors. In my opinion, Murray is already MCW 2.0 with more defense and a more attractive face.
