De’Andre Hunter Career High 34 Points Full Highlights (1/24/2021)

I still haven’t quite figured out what the cut-off points for various players are under my new highlight-making protocol, which is basically “I make highlights when I feel like it and if I don’t feel like it then I just do something else instead.” De’Andre Hunter is a perfect example. He’s a young player who is rapidly improving, so it’s hard to peg him at a specific point total and say “this is the amount of points that Hunter has to score in order to earn himself a DTB highlight video”.

When Hunter scored 23, 23, and 25 points in games earlier this season, I uneasily ignored those performances. However, I understand now that my reluctance to make those videos was just another example of my astounding foresight in all things basketball-related. Let’s be real: 25 points is nice, but it’s not an exceptional amount for a high-caliber scorer. If Lillard or Beal scores 25, nobody even blinks an eye. Hunter’s not at the level of those guys, but he’s becoming quite the fearsome scoring threat, so I reserved my highlight-making energy for a time when it was truly called for.

This is that time. Hunter dropped 34 points on the Bucks and he didn’t even have Trae Young out there diming him up and drawing defensive attention. All he had was a ring-chasing (?) Rajon Rondo and some dude named B.J. Goodwin as his point guards. When he broke the 25-point mark, I knew that I had made the right decision in forgoing a highlight video for him a week ago, and when he blasted into the thirty, I was so utterly vindicated that I even made a plaque and presented it to myself. The plaque is on my wall and I’m looking at it right now. It says “DownToBuck is hereby fully VINDICATED for his decision not to make a De’Andre Hunter 25-point highlight video.” I also put a picture of chicken wings on it because chicken wings are my favorite food. I am a Photoshop expert (well, GIMP actually, I’m too poor for Photoshop).

So, long story short, Hunter is a beast, and you can bet that he’s having a special meeting with Carlos Delfino right now.
