Sometimes, a moment of benevolence will strike me. While I normally withhold the juiciest NBA factoids from wider distribution to the unwashed commoners, there are times when I feel compelled to share my factoids with the plebeians which endlessly rabble at my feet. Now is one of those times. Using the advanced analytical service Stathead, which I pay real money for (and not an insignificant amount of real money, either), I have derived the full list of players who have scored 27 or more points while not making any two-point field goals or free throws.
This is the list that I will now share with you all, so that you might be enriched in some small way.
1. Robert Horry (27 points)
2. Duncan Robinson (27 points)
3. Anfernee Simons (27 points)
As you can see, only three players have achieved this particular feat, and the other two did it in the same manner as Anfernee Simons did last night, by making nine three-pointers. No player has made ten three-pointers while steadfastly refusing to score points from another source.
Expanding the criteria to include players who made eight three-pointers in this manner gives us a few more names, including Bryn Forbes, Chris Duhon, and Mickael Pietrus (whose name on Stathead now has an umlaut over the first “e” and an accent over the second “e”, which is confusing because my keyboard doesn’t make those letters). I could even look up the players who did it with seven three-pointers. I can look up anything I want, because I pay for Stathead, and you don’t. I am part of the elite class of NBA factoid finders, and you are part of the underclass of those who are ignorant of NBA factoids until they are directly presented to you.
I bet Anfernee Simons doesn’t pay for Stathead either, even though he could totally afford it, so that puts him in the proletariat class for now. Sorry bro.
