Earlier in the season Michael Carter-Williams seemed to be running away with the ROY race. But he’s hit the fabled “rookie barrier made of bricks”, and has been playing pretty badly lately. I’m not saying Oladipo should win rookie of the year; I’m just saying that it’s not as clear-cut as it was previously.
Although if it were up to me I would just not award it all. There isn’t a single rookie who is having a legitimately good year. The people putting up big numbers have bad advanced stats. The people with good advanced stats have no production. It will end up going to MCW in all likelihood, because, PPG! Oladipo needs to go crazy to close out the year to win it.
Signature performances like this will only help. 12 points in the 4th coming back from a big deficit against a contender? Hell yeah.
