If there has been a more devastating display of midrange jumpshooting this season than what Alexis Ajinca pulled off tonight, I haven’t seen it. The Lakers either didn’t read the scouting report on this guy, or willfully chose to ignore it, or are Robert Sacre, because they were just letting him shoot those things without resistance. And Sexy Alexis was making them pay. Repeatedly.
This performance brings further credence to my theory of “Ajinca is just Anthony Davis without the minutes and green light”. 28 and 15 in 37 minutes is a Davis-esque statline, and there’s not very many reasons to think he could at least approach those numbers on a regular basis if he were given the opportunity. I’m not even being sarcastic right now, I know it’s hard to tell on the Internet, but I am serious as HECK.
