An increase in the weirdness of statlines often corresponds with the approaching end of the regular season. At the start of the year, things are normal, only for them to get odder and odder until a month remains and Luke Babbitt starts scoring 20. The weirdness-increase accelerates towards the finish line, in this case producing a 29-point game for the teamless-until-a-few-weeks-ago James Ennis.
I fully expect Kendrick Perkins to drop 40 in the Pelicans’ final game.
But that’s not for another two days. In the meantime, we can ponder as to how Ennis managed to score a career-high 29 points. Or, we can immediately have our questions regarding his performance answered by watching this neatly-compiled highlight video. The answer ends up being this: he hit some threes, got fouled a few times, and had some nice drives to the rim. Not as exciting as you were imagining, maybe, but it is what it is.
This is a great performance by Ennis, but damn, I can’t wait for Perkins to score 40. People are going to lose their minds.
