It’s official: Emmanuel Mudiay, according to Win Shares, was the player most detrimental to his team this season, easily eclipsing the -0.8 values of Rashad Vaughn and Tony Wroten with a cool -2.1. Way to go Mudiay! It’s hard to be the best of the worst.
Obviously, he wasn’t ACTUALLY the worst player in the league this year. If you gave someone like Adreian Payne the minutes Mudiay got, he’d probably cost his team 10 wins. Same with a lot of other players. Mudiay was just the guy who got tons of minutes while being horrible at the beginning of the year and decent-ish by the end. That’s what we wanted, right? Improvement? At this rate, he’ll be an average player by year three, neatly coinciding to the time when Nikola Jokic becomes Dirk.
