This game and the 29-point game that preceded basically guarantee that James Ennis will be in the NBA in some capacity next season. And I’m not talking just Summer League. Or just a preseason roster. I’m talking about opening-night rosters. He’ll be the thirteenth man somewhere without a doubt.
I can state this with confidence because it turns out that Ennis is actually still getting paid by the Grizzlies next year. So even if he isn’t really on a roster he really kind of is, because he’s still getting what the young people call “dem checks”. Checks signed by an NBA team mean you’re in the NBA. Except when I get under-the-table payments from various teams to make highlight videos of their scrubs. That just means I’ve made it in life, not that I’m actually an NBA player.
