Do you want to hear something terrible? Al-Farouq Aminu’s mega poster dunk on Bogut was listed as a layup in the box score. Not only is that an insult to the primal power contained in Aminu’s whamjams, but it also means that, were I to revisit every dunk of the playoffs in order to make a theoretical “Playoff Dunkilation”, this Aminu dunk would be passed over.
Luckily I’m paying attention now so it’s already on the list to be included in such a video, if it is ever made. But what about all the dunks I don’t remember? What if some of them are represented as layups in the official NBA literature? These are the kind of thoughts that make me anxious and give me panic attacks. Every dunkilation I make is doubtlessly missing one or two dunks simply because the scorekeepers are too busy eating french fries or ogling cheerleader heinies to properly categorize the different types of shots that occur during a game.
The only solution is for the NBA to hire me to look at every single made basket and properly label it as a jump shot, hook shot, dunk, layup, or floater. I already am looking at every single basket for my fullilation series anyway (check out part one here: https://youtu.be/bfDh1wr677I ) but I have no power to recategorize shots. So if somebody from the NBA wants to tweet me some offers they should absolutely feel free to. My rates are reasonable. I’d even work for free if you told me that I could use NBA arenas as my own personal gyms.
