People just love to talk about how bad Tristan Thompson is. Not only how bad he is, but how bad his contract is. Is it his fault that the Cavs wanted to pay him big money? No. Anyone would’ve taken that contract. So we can just forget about that supposed negative aspect of him. Fact of the matter is, I’m tired of people ragging on T-Thomp. I blame the Internet and its inherent culture of negativity. Instead of focusing on his downsides, why not focus on the upsides?
Here’s one: he rebounds the ball like a maniac. He gets tons of offensive rebounds that are not his to get. Maybe I’m being a little overenthusiastic, but I’m gonna say it anyway: Rodman-esque. That’s what he is. Rodman-esque in the same way that Timofey Mozgov is Longley-esque.
Here’s another one: he’s apparently bros with LeBron James. That’s a good thing. It’s good for superstars to have bros on their team that they can be bros with. It fosters a culture conducive to winning games.
So that’s two things. There are a bunch more, I’m pretty sure. So next time all you haters decide to start hating on Tristan Thompson, maybe rethink your hate. Because a team with him on it is in the Finals, and no team with you on it has ever even gotten close.
