Moe Harkless is carving out a niche for himself as a hustly-type small forward who can’t really shoot but can score around the basket sometimes and throw down sick slams more than sometimes. If the Blazers ever want to be contenders with Lillard and McCollum, they’ll probably need to find an upgrade for Mo Flow, but you can always keep him around on the bench. The bench can be a fine home for a hustle player with major deficiencies in one or more areas.
I think now is a good time to bring up the fact that the Magic basically give up on this guy for nothing. Well, not quite nothing, since a 2020 top-55 protected second-round pick is technically not nothing, but it might as well be nothing. The Magic have mismanaged their roster for years now, but this move in particular is puzzling. It’s not like he was going to be a free agent and get paid mega dollars based on his time in Orlando. But it’s also not like the most you could get for him is a far-future second-round pick. He was redundant on their roster and that weakened the Magic’s position, but they could have at least gotten back a scrub at a position of need or something.
Anwyay, that’s all over now, and Harkless did in fact get paid the mega dollars, so everybody’s happy.
Except DownToBuck, who wants to see this guy score thirty sometime.
