I made highlights of this performance because I fully believed that six assists would be Isaiah Canaan’s career-high in that category. How foolish of me to assume that a midget shooting guard like the Canaan-Ball (because he’s ball-shaped from being fat ROFL) wouldn’t be able to rack up a larger amount of assists when unwisely pressed into a full-time point guard role as he was at times in Philadelphia. Since he’s never shown the ability to make plays consistently, I thought six would way surpass anything he had ever done in the league.
I will keep this in mind when I’m doing future Canaan-Ball highlights, or, more accurately, when I’m NOT doing future Canaan-Ball highlights. Take that, tubby.
Despite my new animosity towards this dude, I sort of wanted to watch him dish out eight assists just to see what it looked like. Sadly, the Canaan-Ball’s eight-assist game also saw him go 2-of-13 from the field for an even dozen points, so it wasn’t exactly highlights material. There are highlights from the D-League where gets double-digit assists (??!?!?!?!) but I somehow doubt that he turned into a passing wizard just by being sent down to the minors. Let’s just say that the “D” in D-League doesn’t stand for defense.
