Another year, another dismal Sixers squad for “Alcohollis” Thompson. True, this year’s squad is considerably less dismal than years past, but Alcohollis still isn’t going to get to experience many wins. He’ll continue to shoot in the upper-30’s on threes, he’ll continue to not really have any in-between game, and he’ll continue to continually have a dopey look on his face. That’s what we can count on from “All Holl Is Breaking Loose.”
His situation actually closely mirrors that of another forgotten Thompson in the NBA, specifically Jason Thompson. J-Thomp was on the Kings for like eight seasons or something and they sucked in every single one of them. For some reason he was like their franchise player for a little while even though he was, at best, a league-average power forward. Is Alcohollis going to suffer the same fate? Is he going to spend his entire prime on a losing team, then finally escape it, only to fall out of the league entirely after some short, failed stints with other teams? If that happened to me I would be pissed.
Unfortunately, Alcohollis is not really in position to demand a trade because 1.) he’s not good enough to demand a trade and 2.) he gets to play with Joel Embiid and why would you ever want to get traded away from that?
