I’ll never forget all those sweet Gus Johnson calls from various sports. He certainly is one of the most recognizable sports commentators, able to inject excitement into the mundane and insanity into the already exciting.
With that said, I kind of wish he’d chill out a bit while commentating for the Bucks. We in Wisconsin are a simple people. Loud noises scare us. Black people scare us. This isn’t Bulls basketball. It’s Bucks basketball, and when you start freaking out about Malcolm Brogdon dunking it, well, all it does is make us want to turn off the TV.
He also freaks out too much for players on opposing teams. It’s one thing to get hyped for your own team, but for the other team? You’re not a national commentator, dude. You don’t have to be impartial. So don’t get excited when Buddy Hield finally hits a three after bricking a whole bunch of times. Okay?
Oh yeah, and Brog Dog had another pretty good game for the Bucks. He’s an old rookie, so he should be more NBA-ready than most, and he’s showing it. Just gotta work on that shooting form; it looks like he can barely force the ball to the hoop from the three-point line.
