All this good stuff being done by Sergio Rodriguez is reminding of when T.J. McConnell burst onto the scene last year for the 76ers. Except, you know, what Sergio is doing isn’t a fluke like what T.J. was doing. Otherwise, very similar, in that they both made the 76ers look like a passable offensive team just by sometimes looking to pass it to their bigmen. Note how I said “look like” a passable offensive team. It would take a lot more than a decent PG to make them actually passable.
Sergio’s a bit older than his teammates, and probably has a lot more veteran savvy contained within his testicles than the average Philly player. This vet savvy has been getting displayed on a regular basis these first few games. I don’t remember much from his first stint in the league, but I have to assume that it wasn’t anything like this, otherwise he would have stuck around longer in the NBA. Or maybe he just liked being the man in Europe instead of just another guy in the States. Understandable, at least until you have a chance to play with the GOAT of all time Joel Embiid.
