Amir Johnson 23 Points/4 Threes Full Highlights (11/2/2016)

I don’t know why this rando ESPN commentator is so surprised/confused by the fact that Amir “United Arab Amirates” Johnson can hit threes. At the end of his Toronto Stint, Amir was taking and making a not-unsubstantial amount of threes. He was almost a stretch four for a little stretch of time there.

Sure, his three-point shooting dropped off when he got to the land of baked beans, but he was still attempting three-balls when he was open. It’s only reasonable to assume that he would continue to do so again this year. Of course, you can’t really expect an ESPN commentator to know what the heck is going on in the NBA, especially if it’s a commentator where yours truly can’t identify his voice. He probably has to commentate multiple sports, the poor sap.

I will say, however, that Amir’s last three, with Taj Gibson right in his face, was not a shot he would attempt unless he had made three straight three-pointers in same quarter. That was a heat check. I do heat checks too when I turn on my thermostat and hope that the electric company hasn’t shut off my heat yet for being delinquent on my bills.
