There are a lot of things that I put up with. A lot of things. I consider myself a patient and measured person. I tolerate most injustices with nothing but a tight-lipped smile and a shrug. But even I have to draw the line somewhere.
And the line I’m drawing is the three-point arc, beyond which Brook Lopez is no longer allowed to shoot from. I understand that this is 2016, and bigmen are supposed to have a certain skill set. That’s fine. It’s just that Brook Lopez is an excellent interior player, and having him shoot threes is in total defiance of common basketball sense. Would you want Joel Embiid shooting threes? Okay, maybe that’s a bad example.
I noticed Brook starting to attempt long bombs in preseason and thought little of it. Players try all sorts of crazy stuff during the exhibition games that they would never think of trying during the regular season. How wrong I was. He’s basically a center version of Stephen Curry at this point. DAMMIT.
Blopez doubled his career three-point makes with this performance, if you’re curious. Which I’m not, because I am NEVER watching another Nets game until he gets his ass back in the paint where it belongs.
