I’m under the impression that Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari play the same position. That wasn’t a problem last year because Chandler got to take a year-long vacation from basketball (some people are so lucky), but it might be a problem this year. Since both players are competent scorers who deserve large amounts of minutes, one or both of them are going to have to play out of position at least some of the time in order for both of them to get the minutes they require.
Gallinari can be a power forward, right? If you play him there he instantly becomes a stretch four. Meanwhile, I bet you could play Chandler at the two. At 6’8″, he has a significant height advantage there. He might struggle to defend that position, but that’s why you have Nurkic. Same with Gallo. Even if he can’t guard power forwards, he doesn’t need to when Nurkic is guarding the paint with his girthy…girth.
Man, this coaching stuff is 2EZ. I have already discovered a solution to the Nuggets’ minutes situation, and I’m not even the one who haphazardly assembled the roster in the first place! If anybody in the NBA wants to have me on their bench in a suit dispensing my invaluable basketball wisdom, I’m right here by the phone waiting for your call.
