I’m trying to figure out right now if Markieff Morris contributes significantly to wins given his style of play. He’s definitely a scorer more than anything else, but he’s not that great of a scorer – he just shoots a high volume to make it look like he is, Kobe-retirement-tour-style. He’s shooting well from the three-zone this year but historically has been poor from distance, so his main area of operation is the midrange. People don’t hate midrange jumpers as much as they used to, but the way Markieff does them (isoing) is never a good idea.

DownToBuck doesn’t care about defense so I have no comment on whether or not he plays any. He does rebound the ball some, but not any more than your average PF, and I don’t understand why rebounds get lumped in with defense anyway. Who are you defending, the ball from your other teammates who are trying to steal the rebound from you?

In conclusion, we have drawn no conclusions as to whether Markieff is actually a “good” player who can contribute meaningfully to a successful team. Also in conclusion, I don’t have the intelligence or knowledge to make such conclusions. So this description was pretty much a waste of everybody’s time, especially mine. Sorry.
