Langston Galloway started off the season a bit slowly, but here’s the thing: he’s never been a great or even good scorer in the league. Anybody who thought he would transform himself into such a player this year was probably being too optimistic. I don’t count myself among that particular group of optimists, mostly because I don’t have enough spare hype to go around giving it to average combo guards on bad teams, even if they did get a moderately large payday (five million per year will pay for a lot of Botox injections).
With crazy contracts having been handed out like candy during the last off-season, Galloway’s contract isn’t even that bad. It’s movable at worst, and at best, Galloway actually plays up to it. But maybe the Pelicans should have focused on getting a complementary star for Anthony Davis before stocking their roster with limited-upside role-players.
Man, if you read that again, it almost sounds like I have real basketball opinions and am presenting them in an unironic way. I bet I could do basketball analysis for real. ESPN hit me up, I know you’re reading this.
