Are people still making fun of Michael Jordan for drafting Frank Kaminsky in lieu of taking that huge package of picks from the Celtics? That seems like it was a while ago, and all fanbases involved have moved on to more pressing matters multiple times. Currently, for the Celtics, whether Al Horford is dead or not, and for the Hornets, how to fix MKG’s jumper before he turns 30. I’m guessing that particular draft-day “mistake” is only remembered by the saltiest of fans.
Not to say Kaminsky has been worthy of his draft slot. He hasn’t. Or maybe he has? It’s hard to tell with him. He’s been solid. Solidly solid. The solidest. That is not what you exactly want from the 9th pick, but he could be a lot worse, and he doesn’t actively harm his team even when he’s not hitting shots. Limiting turnovers is a good thing, and he does that. Or something. That sounds right, right? God, I don’t know. I need to watch more Hornets games so I can be more informed, except every time I do I remember all those times I called Kemba Walker a bust, and I hate being so wrong
