Marco Belinelli hasn’t been the same since he left the Spurs. Heck, maybe it goes even further back than that. Has he ever recovered from winning the three-point shootout? He had a brief spurt of success after that particular All-Star Weekend, but by the playoffs was barely doing anything.
He was pretty broken with Sacramento, and he’s only marginally better with the Hornets. What’s the deal? I’m thinking some sort of voodoo curse that makes white-skinned three-point contestants way worse. It happened to Kevin Love, it happened to Steve Novak, it happened to, uh, Matt Bonner also. Maybe that’s not enough to determine if a curse exists or not. Maybe it is. All I know is, Marco only satisfied his pre-draft sharpshooter hype for a few seasons before mysteriously regressing.
