Marreese “Speighetti” Speights has always been a volume scorer, even when given limited minutes like this season or the season before. My main concern is, when do we get to see him unleashed for an extended period of time? And when I say “unleashed”, I’m talking thirty minutes per game with no restrictions on how many times he gets to shoot the ball. And an “extended period of time”, in my book, is an entire season. We need an entire season of Speighetti getting thirty minutes per game. We, as fans, should demand this.
Speighetti is not getting any younger. He’s almost thirty, and he’s already flabbing out a little bit. Okay, a lot bit. He’s tubby and it’s not going to get any better. There are only a few years left before father time comes in dangling a cheeseburger tied to a string and takes Speighetti away from us forever. Before that happens, he had better get at least one season of being the number one or number two offensive threat on a team. I honestly don’t care how many wins such a strategy would result in. Probably not very many. All that matters is that it happens and that I’m around to watch it happen.
